Tartuffel da GENTS - potato vodka, 41% vol.
about this product
Description
Tartuffel da Gents, 35cl, is our potato vodka ; “Tartuffel” means potato in Romansh. Organically grown mountain potatoes from the Albula Valley in Graubünden are the raw material for this traditional-style potato brandy.
The mountain potatoes are grown on the Las Sorts farm in Filisur by Marcel Heinrich and his wife Sabina Heinrich Tschalèr and marketed by the well-known enjoyment trainer Freddy Christandl . Gents came up with the idea of making a single-variety brandy from potatoes that were not for sale.
In contrast to classic vodka, this spirit is only distilled once and not filtered; It smells earthy and fruity and tastes sweet for a long time. A scent of freshly peeled potatoes remains in the glass.
The potatoes were distilled by Urs Flütsch on his farm in Pratval im Domleschg, the small village lies on the other side of the Albula Pass.
Urs Flütsch is a farmer and distiller as a part-time job; he distills stone and pome fruit down to the tree for his neighbors in the valley; Gents was able to inspire him to try distilling potatoes for the first time. The plan is to produce even more exciting fires with Urs Flütsch – more about that here!
